Yale Staff 06-07
Alexandra Suich, Editor-In-Chief
Berkeley College '08
Alexandra Suich is a History and African Studies double major from San Francisco, California. Alexandra believes that good journalism can only come from world experience, and she has been fortunate enough to engage in some work experiences that have provided her with a richer perspective on global issues. She has interned for the United Nations Development Fund for Women in New York, Pathfinder International in Kenya, the United Nations Development Program in South Africa, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Geneva.Since coming to Yale, she has discovered a great interchange between writing and action. With several other students, she helped found The Globalist Foundation, which extended journalism to other campuses around the world. After the Foundation's inception, she worked to start the Foundation's only chapter in Africa, The Cape Town Globalist. With a particular interest in women's leadership, she co-founded an organization to encourage women's leadership at Yale, called the Women's Leadership Initiative. In addition to writing and editing for The Yale Globalist, Alexandra has served on Yale's Sexual Harassment Grievance Board and written articles for The Yale Journal of Public Health, Five magazine, The Yale Herald, and the UN Chronicle.

Sean Jackowitz is a sophomore Russian and Eastern European Studies major in Trumbull College. From Miami, Florida, he is especially interested in the economic development of Eastern Europe and Sino-Russian relations.
J.T. Kennedy, Managing Editor
Calhoun College '09
Growing up watching the evening news with his grandmother, J.T. has been interested in both international affairs and journalism since he was a child. Writing for The Globalist has allowed J.T. to pursue these interests at Yale. In addition to editing and writing for The Yale Globalist, J.T. is also active in the Yale International Relations Association and the Yale Precision Marching Band. One of J.T.'s favorite hobbies is language acquisition, and he can currently speak both Mandarin Chinese and French proficiently. J.T. believes firmly in the value of having a well-stamped passport. Having studied in China, attended conferences in Russia, and observed an election in El Salvador, J.T. enjoys broadening his outlook on the world through travel. Because there are so many angles from which one can view the world, J.T. can't seem to decide on a major. He is open to any suggestions.
Sabrina Snell, Managing Editor
Branford College '08
Before arriving to Yale, Sabrina deferred matriculation for a year to travel to Bolivia as an exchange student with a full scholarship from the American Field Service (Award for Excellence). During her time there, she studied at the Universidad Tecnica de Oruro in the Faculty of Economics while volunteering at an educational center for underprivileged children as well as at a local orphanage, Gota de Leche. This past summer, Sabrina received the Linck Summer Fellowship to return to Bolivia to conduct an independent study project on the country's current political situation. More specifically, she followed the Movement for Socialism and its leader, Evo Morales, in their campaign for the presidency. Although her interests lie mainly in Latin American political anthropology, she is also intrigued by the ever-growing presence, both physically and economically, of Southeast Asia in this region (she is currently taking Chinese at Yale). As News Editor with the Yale Globalist, she devotes most of her energy to ensuring that the magazine produces quality articles informing the public about world events and trends, while occasionally contributing her own knowledge of Latin American politics. When not editing non-fiction pieces for the Globalist, she enjoys fiction-writing and, in Spring 2005, she won second place in the English department's Meeker Prize for freshman fiction.
Philip Burkhard, Publisher
Calhoun College '08

His interests lie in U.S. foreign policy and most recently North Korean domestic and foreign policy. He is a student and lover of the Italian and Chinese languages and enjoys photojournalism, the National Geographic Society, and the occasional culture shock. He is currently grappling with understanding different economic structures in emerging markets and how to keep a pet while still a full-time student. Phil's most gratifying work experiences were in non-profits, and those in which he had the opportunity to work directly with children in orphanages, schools and churches. Most recently, Phil interned with Dow Jones & Co. at their Singapore Bureau, writing and editing their South East Asian equity reports.

He speaks functional Arabic and Spanish, and plans to begin learning Mandarin Chinese next year.
