Press Release: The Globalist Foundation Launches Special Edition on the Middle EastIMMEDIATE RELEASEAugust 14, 2006 The Globalist Foundation, an international network of student-run international affairs publications, announces the release of a Special Online Edition on the crisis in the Middle East. This online publication is breaking ground by bringing together the voices of young student journalists from across the Foundation’s international platform, including chapters in both Beirut and Jerusalem. The Globalist Foundation, founded in 2005 by a group of Yale University undergraduates, seeks to connect students from the world’s top universities in an ongoing dialogue on international affairs. Each chapter of the Foundation publishes a quarterly magazine, written and produced by undergraduates, on international issues of their choosing. In addition, the Foundation oversees the publication of an Annual Issue produced in cooperation with all of the chapters. While the Jerusalem chapter has been with the Foundation for ten months, the current conflict in Lebanon and Israel began just days after The Beirut Globalist was founded. This Special Edition on the Middle East invites student journalists from Beirut, Jerusalem, as well as from the Foundation’s other chapters to write articles, opinion pieces, and letters in response to the current situation in the Middle East. In addition to opinion articles, the Foundation is planning to publish interviews with students from both chapters. Excerpts of correspondence between Israeli and Lebanese students during the conflict will also be available online. Finally, The Foundation is in the process of making a video documenting student opinions from the Beirut and Jerusalem Globalist, as well as the Foundation’s other chapters. This open dialogue between young people around the world and on opposite sides of an ongoing conflict is groundbreaking, and another example of how The Globalist Foundation is shaping the next generation of journalism, leadership and international exchange. The Special Edition on the Middle East and subsequent updates will be available online at the Globalist Foundation web site at www.globalistfoundation.org Contacts Eleonora Sharef Alexandra Cavoulacos Peter Kjeldgaard About The Globalist Foundation The Globalist Foundation (www.globalistfoundation.org) is a network of student-run international-affairs magazines at premier universities around the globe.
